Police Officer on-site
The Police Officer arrived on a motorcycle at the parking lot at Centerra Mall by the Lenscrafters store.
The first thing he asked us was if we are O.K. Both my daughter and I were shaking and scared. I was having a hard time talking and breathing. At a later date, when I sought medical help I found out that actually that was a panic attack due to the car accident.
I explained the Police Officer the details of the accident and the discussion I had with Sharon Scheller. The police officer mentioned to us that , he stopped at the site of the accident , and saw the tire marks of my car on the ground. At that time there was no landscaping and the ground was rough. I showed him the scratches on my car, and I also mentioned the huge noise I heard coming from the underneath of the car when I left the road to avoid the collision with Sharon Scheller’s car. I made known to him that I was concerned about possible leakage under the car, and tire damage on the right front. The police officer checked the pressure, and concluded it was O.K. He reiterated that he is not a mechanic, so if any problems arise I need to take the car in.
After that he called Sharron Scheller’s cell phone number, and left a message saying that it was not O.K. to leave the scene, and to call him back on the cell phone number he provided her with. The police officer did not go after Sharon Scheller in the restaurant even though I mentioned to him that Sharon Scheller told me she was late for lunch. She even said: “I am hungry” before she left.
The police officer handed me his card with his information, and he left. I was still shaking, couldn’t breath well and I was scared. I left the parking lot after 1:00PM. Sharon Scheller’s car was still there in the parking lot. The Officer has the right to go into the restaurant to find her, but he failed to do so. Maybe he was late for lunch too.
Officer Lorenzen did not mention anything about checking information from the video cameras at the intersection to see if the accident was visible. It is a major intersection, with cameras present. Nor did he say anything about checking phone records to see if Scheller was on the phone at the time of the accident.
